$10 off $20 Kohls Coupon in Todays Paper

The front of this morning's Tampa  & St Pete newspapers has a "peelie" coupon good for a $10 off $20 purchase at Kohl's.  The coupon is valid July 14th through July 24th in stores only. It is good on everything - regular, sale, and clearance items and can be combined with % off coupons.

That One Coupon...

You know how sometimes you're reading the store sales with the coupon match ups and think, I wish I had that one coupon. That happened to me this week since Publix finally has the 18 lb bag of Purina One Dog Food on sale. The salmon flavor is the only one my dog should eat because other brands and flavors irritate her skin allergies. Anyway, there was a single page flyer available in Publix last month for $3.50/1 and I never was able to locate a copy. I have a bunch of the $2/1 but that was almost half the value of the elusive $3.50 Q.

I looked every time I was at Publix, which is about 3 or 4 times a week, but never found the Purina flyer. I finally figured I needed to try to buy some. But it wasn't listed on any coupon clipper sites. I did see it for sale on ebay, but the price was too high and shipping killed the deal. Plus I needed it this week - I haven't had the quickest deals ever go through on ebay. So I started perusing the forums, like Slickdeals and Hot Coupon World for trades. But since I've never traded, I don't have much clout. I signed up on some blogs on the trader wall for ISO (in search of) coupon and no response.

So how did I get the coupon, you're wondering. Well, I PM'd one of the forum members who happened to make an entry about the seeing the Purina coupons. Sure enough, this person had nine copies of the coupon I needed, and she wasn't going to use them. We agreed on 10% cost (0.35 ea) and the cost of a stamp. I used paypal to pay her (use personal, gift check boxes to ensure no fees are added), and she mailed the coupons.

Sometimes, if you really need THAT ONE COUPON, try searching the forum for a keyword. Ask individuals if they have them. It works, but you need to think outside the box and be persistent. If you're frugal you're persistent anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

$5 of $30 competitor coupon

In Tampa, there is a $5 off $30 Sweetbay coupon peelie on the front of both local newspapers. Good for use at Publix. Expires 6/6.

Chobani and A Printable Coupon Tip

Save your Chobani yogurt coupons because they'll be on sale at Publix starting 5/27, if you have the coupons they'll be free.

Chobani Greek Yogurt $10/10
$1.00/1 - Chobani Greek Yogurt, Any Size – Tampa Bay Wine & Food Festival Booklet (no longer found, they were on turnstiles a few weeks ago)
B2G1 - Chobani Greek Yogurt PRINT
Here's the tip - The manufacturer site prints e-centives coupons which allow 3 prints (This tip works with Target printables too!). A way to get around this is to switch users on your PC and it will allow you to print 3 more for each user. For Windows XP, Just go to control panel->useraccounts->create a new account->enter a name for the account->then make sure "computer administrator" is checked, and then click "create account". Log onto that account, go print more of the coupons you want. Log off that account back to your original.

Frugal Dental

A couple days ago I went to the dentist to investigate a little tenderness in my back molar when I bite hard stuff, like granola. They did a full set of x-rays since I didn't have a set on file. I decided to go ahead with it since they are valid for 5 years and I really wanted to know what the deal is with my bum tooth. All these dental decisions were a little easier to make since I had recently signed up with www.Dentalplans.com (my referral code is 65A21S68) in case you sign up too.

Since the insurance options offered by my employer are pretty un-frugal, we checked out other options. DentalPlans.com is not insurance, but is a discount dental plan designed for individuals, families and groups looking to save money on their dental care needs. Participating dental care providers have agreed to accept a discounted fee from plan members as payment-in-full for services performed. As a plan member, you simply show your membership card when visiting any participating plan provider to receive most dental services at discounted fees.

My DH had a chunk of his tooth fall out earlier this year and had to make an emergency visit to the dentist. We didn't have any insurance or dental plan, so the expense looming was not cool. I quickly searched the internet and found www.dentalplans.com and my dentist participates, so I signed up and we were covered for the dental appt two days later. I think the plan cost about $140 for a year of family coverage, less than the price of two cleanings for the year. As it turned out he needed a root canal and crown which would have cost over $2000 with out any plan. With our discounted fees, it came to 1/2 that for $1000.

Now with my deal, it turns out I have a cracked tooth. When I bite down on the old filling it pushes the crack open and I feel some tenderness. There is no pain yet, but I need to get the tooth ground away, replace it with a core and a crown, for the estimated price of $700. Without the dental plan, it would cost about $1200 for the core and crown. So this year it is definitely paying off to have this discount plan.

So if you can't afford the dental insurance provided by your employer, I would suggest investigating a discount dental plan, its worth it.

Coupon Capers

How do you get your coupons? I've been struggling in my mind whether its worth it to buy a lot of newspapers to get a consistent supply of coupons. Another blogger has an offer to get the Sunday paper for 0.50 each. I already get two papers delivered to my house, but one is the crappy St Pete Times which does not distribute the Smartsource insert. But DH likes that TV guide better, otherwise I'd cancel it. Then a couple people bring me their inserts to work and I can get a couple SS inserts that way.

Then on Monday nights, I go recycling with DH and the dog. Usually I can walk about 6 blocks and pick up about 10 copies of the inserts. But in Tampa, since January when SPTimes quit carrying the SS insert, it means I only get half the usual count, about 4 or 5. I could walk around another block but I've canvased the neighborhood and its not really productive to go off my route. It also seems as though more people are cutting coupons than previously. There are houses where I always used to get the insert, and now they're not in the recycle bin. So I can get my 10 RPs, but I'm lacking in SS.

I do check the insert on Sunday mornings to see if I REALLY need a coupon in SS, but then is it worth buying a paper for $1? For example, this past weekend there is a Texas Toast crouton coupon for 0.50. These go on BOGO a couple times a year and then the coupon makes them really cheap. They also go on Advantage buy. Since we eat salads for lunch every day, we go through a bag of croutons every week, so I need to have a lot around. In fact, I need to get some this week with the new coupon. But I only have 6 copies, plus a few printables of same.

So is it better to suscribe to more papers or buy coupons? I've only bought coupons once. I got 20 of the $4 knox coupons for 0.40 each, when my supply ran out. I was hooked on that easy overage, after months of phazyme and knox - I'm going crazy now. Anyway, I'm thinking it may be better to skip getting the extra 6 papers each and every week for a cost of $156 dollars a year? Or, should I just spend a few bucks every so often when I really need some coupons? Will I spend up to $156 each year buying coupons - because that's what getting all the extra papers is essentially.

Where's the Honey

If you're following the yogurt deals lately, you probably got some cheap FAGE Greek Yogurt with your $1/1 coupon, and also some of the Yoplait Greek yogurt that was free with the Publix clickcallmail coupon. I am partial to peach and berry flavors, but another blogger bragged on how wonderful the Honey flavor Fage yogurt was, so I tried it. And it was heaven, with the side tray of thick, golden honey to stir into the greek style gelled yogurt, it mixed great and tasted better.

Well, today I tried the honey flavored Yoplait and noticed the gelled yogurt, but when I dipped to the bottom of the container I didn't find any honey. Hey. Where's the honey? I tasted a bit and could taste the honey vanilla flavor, but I was still disappointed. Greek yogurt isn't supposed to be premixed. I think I'll let them know that. Their food scientists must have been on vacation when that product was developed.

Sunday Coupons 3/7 & Kmart Doubles Event

It looks like there will be Three (3) inserts in your Sunday newspaper (unless you're getting St Pete Times which doesn't get SS)

1- Red Plum
1- SmartSource
1- Proctor & Gamble

The P&G probably has some high value coupons that are good to save for the upcoming KMart Doubles event April 4-10. During this event Kmart will let you double the coupon value up to $2.00 for up to 5 items per day per customer (bring your kids and spouses - they count as customers). It doesn't matter if the value of the coupon is greater than the item when doubled. Last year I stocked up on lots of ziplocs, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, snacks, soda and cleaning products. They accept internet printables and manufacturer coupons.

Can't Find Publix Booklets?

If you're having an impossible time finding the new coupon booklets from Publix, Multiply Your Meals and Beautiful Benefits, you can simply go HERE to request them directly from the manufacturer Unilever. One the right hand side there is a link under special savings to click and get an email popup. Just email them by March 15th with your requested booklet(s), name, phone and they will mail you the booklets.

Sometimes It's Not Worth It

So there's a deal now at Walgreens. They have Purex laundry soap for $5.99 and it's BOGO for a Megasaver deal good for a month. It means you get FREE Purex when you use your Purex BOGO coupon (2-24 RP). But only if the store manager and clerk understand to just ring in the price they will be getting reimbursed for the coupon. We all know that you can stack a store BOGO deal with a manufacturer BOGO coupon, and get both items free. But not at my local Walgreens in Temple Terrace. Mr Rivera the store manager insists you have to PAY for one (but the coupon doesn't count as paying). I tried to explain and asked if we could call another store so he could verify it's a valid purchase. He refused. We left. DH was fuming and plans to call 1800WALGREENS tomorrow to spout off about Mr Rivera's attitude problem.

Two Great Matchups

Here are two great coupon matchup deals to do at Publix using the new Heathy Kids booklet and recent manufacturer coupons.

1. Weight Watchers Yogurt, 6 oz  (not sure of the price but it doesn't matter)
Stack the Publix store coupon BIGI with the Manufacturer BIGI coupon (1-17 SS) to get free yogurt

2. Buddig Deli Cuts meats 12-16 oz, $2.50
Use the Publix store coupon $1/1 from the booklet and stack with the $1/1 (2-7 SS) to get package for $0.50

Also still doable deal is the Vicks trial size Nyquil or Dayquil $1.39 (use $2/1 1-17 PG or $1.50/1 2-21 PG) and match with the Free Puffs WYB Vicks coupon (1-17 PG). This gives you a little overage and free tissues.

Also the Knox coupons expire on 3/9/2010 so get yours soon, or use them up. Some people are reporting more difficulty is getting this overage and it may be from overuse by other couponers. Just use a few at a time to ensure a smooth checkout.

Free Pantene Shampoo full sized bottle

How to Get a 10% off Lowes Coupon Immediately

I need to shop at Home Depot to get some stuff for the kitchen remodel and found this way to get a 10% off Lowes coupon right NOW (thanks slickdeals), instead of waiting a couple days for the email. Plus I've run out of addresses to apply for the coupon. But this works if you're in that same situation, or if you just need a coupon. It will work at Lowes only once because they do scan the barcode, but copies of it will work at Home Depot. It doesn't expire for 45 days.
1. Go HERE
2. Then select your state on the map...
3. Scroll down the page on the left side a little past half way, and under Sponsored Partner Links click on the ad "Save 10% At Lowe's to renovate your foreclosed property."
4. Enter your info...
5. They immediately give you a coupon to print (coupon includes the name and address you entered).
