Disney Give A Day Program Has Ended

Hats off to a million volunteers!
The overwhelming support received for the "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program has helped Disney reach their goal of inspiring one million people to volunteer a day of service to their communities. The program has now ended.

If you were signed up before they ended registration you are counted as part of the million volunteers and are still eligible to donate your time and get your free Disney Day. It may take up to two weeks to verify your volunteer activity and credit your account with the Disney voucher.

I'm still waiting since we completed our community service just this past Sunday.

Give A Day

Today we volunteered for the Give a Day, Get a Day Disney promotion. It was the Tour De Cure sponsored by the American Diabetes Association and 500 bicycle riders hit the road for various length bike rides. We signed up to serve lunch, which was delish - Ciccios wraps and satay, plus Pollo Tropical chicken, with rice and beans. It started off chilly but warmed up nicely by the time our stint was up.

Disney Give a Day, Get a Day

Did you all sign up to volunteer to earn a free day at Disney? We did, and now we're scheduled to work a really fun event called the Tour de Cure, a bicycle ride starting at DeSoto State Park in St Pete, FL on March 7.

Come and ride with us for the first time ever in Ft. Desoto, Florida! The ride will begin and end at the historic and picturesque Ft. Desoto Park. Your ride will take you along the most breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico, along amazing natural and preserved forests, and through some of the most beautiful cities of the South! Want to ride for a day and vacation for the weekend? Ft. Desoto is known for stunning campgrounds! What else can you expect? An incredible night before party, and the biggest start & finish line you've ever seen!

Tour de Cure 2010 is catering to the entire community. Whether you're an extremely experienced rider up for an exhilarating challenge, or you're a family hitting the trail together at your own pace, we have a ride for you! Join us for our 100 mile Century Ride, Metric Century, 35 miles, 25 miles, 10 miles, or our 5 mile family fun ride. Ride it by yourself, bring a friend, or form a team…just be sure to ride!

When the ride is finished let the party begin! There will be live bands, awards, incredible vendors, massage therapy and a health and wellness zone! An amazing ride deserves an amazing lunch and it will be provided!

Hands On Network (HOT)

This weekend before continuing on the kitchen demolition, we drove over to Westshore Macy's to attend the 45 minute Hands On Tampabay (HOT) orientation. This is the local volunteer organization to work through for the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion. It was pretty simple and easy and we learned how to sign up. Unfortunately all the opportunities are coming up showing that 0 volunteers are needed. The HOT representative said that more spots would be available in the middle of the month when the February calendar is posted. So if you are interested in doing this promotion, it is going to take a little legwork - but probably will be worth it.
