Publix New Coupon Policy Size Clarification

The new Publix coupon policy is confusing everyone, especially the stores. To clarify the new policy which starts on 10/18/14, if a coupon does not have a size requirement it may not be acceptable. Well, here is your justification that "any" is considered a size. Its a letter from corporate that states coupons that state "any size" are acceptable. Save it to your smartphone, you're going to need it.

My Publix Shop - Paid $2, Saved $122

I was really excited to see the Al Fresco chicken sausages were on an unadvertised sale for $2.50 each because I had printed some coupons from an email survey last month and had only a few weeks left until they expired. I also wanted to get some of the vitamins for a filler to get my order up to $50 to use the Whole Foods $10 off $50 printable coupon before it expires 9/30/14.The other items, coffee, creamer and eggs are items we go through a lot and my stockpile is in need of more supplies.

I attended a blog conference FlBlogCon14 in Winter Park, FL last weekend and one of the sponsors was Florida Dairy and they had a promo where they gave free product coupons to the bloggers. Anyway, it was a good conference for being close to Tampa, and I've attended for three years now. I'm going to try to really give it an effort to blog more again and keep this place alive a little. I haven't really figured out what I want my voice to be about, but I know I don't have the time to be a deal blogger, or the inclination.

So, Publix is going to announce a new coupon policy next month that shouldn't affect us regular couponers too much but be aware of changes coming your way.

This shop was actually two separate shops with a $10/$50 and then another transaction $5/$30 (which won't be allowed starting in October - only one dollar off order coupon per household per day). I combined them for the breakdown. I spent $2.12 all together, and saved $122.25, for a 98% savings.

Pamper Your Pet with Love and Nudges Healthy Dog Treats #NudgesMoments

As a regular reader of Frugalapolis, you know we have a wonderful dog who keeps us happy with her unrelenting love and thoughtfulness. We love to give her love and attention too, and plenty of healthy dog treats as rewards for behaving well and for training. Yes, even old dogs can learn new tricks.

We recently purchased some Nudges dog treats at Walmart (with a $1/1 Nudges coupon of course) and the dog loves them! They work great to help us mange her excitement for walks, and help get the results we seek. You can check out my entire shopping Trip through my Google+ Photo Album HereNudges, which are made in USA dog treats, are premium chicken jerky cuts made with real chicken and are wholesome dog treats for your pets. They have no artificial flavors or fillers and best of all they smell good and they are the best dog treats.

She will walk up to the desk and smell the package and then looking longing at one of us. Dogs are so good at non-verbal signals, its hilarious. When I opened the package and smelled them I was a big fan, they seem just like people food! One of my favorite things about the Nudges is that they are large easy to tear pieces so we can put just one piece in our pocket for a short walk and then tear off the appropriate bite-sized pieces for the dog.

Ilom always careful with our dogs' diet, health and safety especially as she ages. Because of this, I’m always a little leery about trying a new treat. With all the recent scares involving dog treats made in other countries, I was happy to see that Nudges are safe high quality dog treats made in the USA!

We like to bring our dog with us to outdoor events and get together with friends who also have pets. This helps our dog get some dog companionship she probably missed since our other dog died a few years ago. She grew up with a playmate and is now the lone dog in the doghouse, which I'm sure she likes sometimes - but then again she gets lonely too. She loved playing with Zoey at a recent 4th of July parade.

Another thing important for an older dog is they like gentle petting and softer voices when you are showing your love. I like to use these times to check out the health of my older dog by feeling for new fatty lumps, checking her ears for cleanliness, looking for any new cuts or insect bites and doing a general inspection of her health. I like to see if her coat is shiny and clean, her breath is not smelly, and her paws have trimmed nails. Excessive itching and scratching means its time for her flea goo treatment and possibly an allergy shot. Any time medication is dispensed is a great time to follow up with a Nudge, those wholesome dog treats she loves.
If you’re interested in checking out the Nudges dog treats, you can learn more on their Facebook page or the Nudges website. They also have their “Share the Love” promotion going on where you can share your dog’s nudge moments by uploading a photo in their giveaway for weekly prizes or a Samsung Galaxy S4 (and $2500 gift card to apply toward phone services)! Upload one of those adorable pictures you have with you and your dog (you must have at least one) or take a new one!

For all the tweeters out there, you can follow them on twitter @NudgesDogTreats. There will be a twitter party on July 17th 2-3pm EST regarding Nudges wholesome dog treats, creating Nudges moments with your pet, and what makes a great day from your pets perspective. Here is the link to the Hosts Twitter party RSVP page.

If your looking for ideas on fun ways to spend your summer be sure to check out this new magazine featured below. There are a lot of great ideas inside.

My Publix Trip - Spent $6.20, Saved $140

When we received the sweetbay coupon in the mailer weekly ad, I started planning a big enough trip to be able to use it. I also know that last month when this coupon was available I was turned down at all stores because my total was never over $50 after coupons. So, I messaged Publix on facebook and asked them to confirm that they considers coupons a form of tender and not a discount. Here's what I asked:
Hi Publix - I just received a new ad from Sweetbay that has a $10 off $50 coupon that states "minimum required purchase amount of $50 after all discounts are applied". Can you please clarify that to use this competitor coupon in Publix the total must be $50 before coupons and not after coupons, since coupons are a form of tender? I hate the drama at the cash register when no one agrees on how this is interpreted and I don't want to use it incorrectly. Thanks

On January 30, 2013 6:23:04 AM PST, Publix wrote:

Hi, Marie. You are correct. "Discounts" does not refer to coupons, as they are a form of tender. So, you may use this coupon as long as your total reaches $50.00 AFTER all other discounts, but not after all coupons have been taken off. Hope this helps! ≈ Kandi
So, if you want to use this coupon, I would recommend messaging them so you have their response right on your smartphone with you in the store. I clarified the situation before I shopped and they wanted to deny it at the store, but the store manager finally agreed to let me use it and signed his approval. It is pretty obvious they don't want to do it, and I told him I didn't care what he did for others, but that I would be glad to call the district manager if he required further confirmation.
Anyway, I did a pretty big shop with heavy stuff since we were in the car and not one the motorcycles. I decided to turn in my grapefruit juice and grapefruit to pay for the soda. I also had a couple coupons that expired 12/31/12 and this store accepts expired MQs for 30 days, so I had to use them up. I've heard there are peelies out there for free eggs wyb al fresco sausages, but I didn't see any. My total was higher than I thought it should be at $6.20, and when I reviewed my receipt I noticed they missed a $2 coupon, and then I noticed the Qtips charged $2.75 rather than the shelf price of $2.65. So, I'll have to go back and get an adjustment. So, my shopping list doesn't match my actual shop, but its close.

I spent $6.20 and saved $140.66, saving 96%.
