How To Preserve Your Memories

Just last week we traveled to Minnesota to visit our families and we took a lot of pictures. Over 500 to be honest. With all the family reunion parties, attending the State Fair and some fun dirt track racing there were a lot of opportunities to capture some great pictures.

 

One of my favorite ways to preserve these memories is by making photo books with Shutterfly Photo books. I have a whole bookcase full of photo books of our trips up North, and cruises, and holidays at the beach. The wonderful thing about Shutterfly is that you can upload your pictures and then share them with everyone you included in your pictures. A photo book is also a great gift to share those pictures. My favorite size is the 8x8 hard cover photo book.

 

My other plan with these recent family pictures is to make a Christmas card using the photo of our entire extended family. Luckily the timing worked and everyone was able to attend a BBQ and we took lots of great family shots.

 

And of course, I took lots of nature pictures that I can make into beautiful Thank You cards to send to our hostesses.

My Publix Trip ($0.37)

This week we've been catching up on chores after a nice long trip out of town. I feel a little out of it as far as couponing - it seems like I didn't spend anytime this week clipping and planning. Most the coupons were for overage items that are not even on sale, but they are an important part of saving money. While visiting family up North, we explained how couponing has allowed us to have spare budget money for travel and other purchases. But they just don't get it. My dad even told me that their largest household expense is groceries! I encouraged him to at least just get a couple Sunday papers on weekends when there were lots of coupons (like this one coming up!) Anyway, you can only help so much - people need to be motivated to do it themselves.

 

Anyway, here's our big Publix trip for the week paid thirty seven cents and got a ten dollar gift card for next time. I'm planning on going back this weekend to get the Trident Gum that is on sale starting with the Yellow Advantage Flyer, not much else interesting for me.

It's back! Go HERE to sign up for your free coupon booklet from Publix for their next Shopping Spree promotion with Kraft, P&G and Pepsi products. The valid dates of the promotion are 10/06/11 thru 11/3/11. Hopefully, they will have made some changes to the coupons because last time they were store coupons with a LU#, but it said Manufacturer coupon on the header - talk about confusing! There also was some strict language about not combining with other coupons, and limit one per transaction.

My Publix Trip - Paid $3.39, Saved 98%

Since we're getting ready for a vacation we didn't need our usual salad stuff, but I also needed to use up some rainchecks because the coupons expire this weekend. So I used four rainchecks to get some cereal, pens and peanut butter.  The Fresh Express salad coupon didn't scan so the cashier manually entered it. I didn't see any Dannon Oikos yogurt, only the Stoneyfield so I couldn't use that free yogurt coupon. There was plenty of 50 ct Advil but of course all the peelies were gone, but I had the MQ from the insert. Last weekend, all the new yellow flyers and the green flyers were gone from the store and there was a note there to go to customer service to get the flyers. Seems they were raided and were now trying the controlled distribution.

 

Luckily, Hurricane Irene decided to stay away from FL, but we're ready for the next one with our cereal and peanut butter stockpile.
