Moneymaker Deal

You can do this deal at either Publix or Target using coupons from the last couple weeks. The small package of Carefree 20 ct are $1.27 at Publix, and I've heard they are $0.94 at Target. Anyway, here is the matchup

Carefree 20 ct, liners $1.27
$1/1 Carefree 18-22ct MQ, 5-8 SS
$0.01 Carefree TQ 5-1 SS (regional coupon - not found in all inserts)
Use one of each coupon per item.
The MQ gives max value of $1, but the second TQ will stack and have a value of $1.26. so result is a $1 money maker on each item.

Stamp Out Hunger - Donate Foods Sat. 5/14

In your mailbox today, you'll probably receive some information and a bag about Help Stamp Out Hunger. Its an annual food drive with help from the United States Post Office, where you can put out a bag of non perishables (from your stockpiles) by your mailbox, and your letter carrier will pick it up. The bags will be donated to local food shelters and pantries.

I've already got a bag put together of pasta, cereals, koolaid, macaroni & cheese and snack crackers. I suppose they could also use personal care items like body wash, toothpaste and deodorant too, so I'll put together more of that stuff.

More than 50 million Americans are at risk of hunger! Go to www.HelpStampOutHunger.com to learn how you can help. #StampOutHunger.

Google Music Beta

I love google and all their products, so I'm sure I'll love this one too. My blog is google, my email is gmail, my phone numbers are Google Voice, and of course Picasa Web, Google Docs, and YouTube. Now Google just launched it's Music Beta page, and is taking invitation requests, a la Google voice back in the day. Their service won't let you purchase any music just yet, because their negotiations with the record labels has fallen through, for now, but they will allow you to upload up to 20,000 of your own songs to "the cloud" for play from anywhere.
You can get to your personal music collection at home or on the go. Listen from the web or any enabled device with the Music app available from Android Market. Not online? No problem. The songs you've recently played will automatically be available offline. You can also select the specific albums, artists and play lists you want to have available when you're not connected.

The sooner you put in your request, the sooner you'll get your invitation.

25 Manners Every Kid Should Know By Age 9

Helping your child master these simple rules of etiquette will get him noticed — for all the right reasons.
By David Lowry, Ph.D.

written by Parents.com
Originally published in the March 2011 issue of Parents magazine.

Your child's rude 'tude isn't always intentional. Sometimes kids just don't realize it's impolite to interrupt, pick their nose, or loudly observe that the lady walking in front of them has a large behind. And in the hustle and bustle of daily life, busy moms and dads don't always have the time to focus on etiquette. But if you reinforce these 25 must-do manners, you'll raise a polite, kind, well-liked child.-
Manner #1
When asking for something, say "Please."
Manner #2
When receiving something, say "Thank you."

Manner #3
Do not interrupt grown-ups who are speaking with each other unless there is an emergency. They will notice you and respond when they are finished talking.
Manner #4
If you do need to get somebody's attention right away, the phrase "excuse me" is the most polite way for you to enter the conversation.
Manner #5
When you have any doubt about doing something, ask permission first. It can save you from many hours of grief later.
Manner #6
The world is not interested in what you dislike. Keep negative opinions to yourself, or between you and your friends, and out of earshot of adults.
Manner #7
Do not comment on other people's physical characteristics unless, of course, it's to compliment them, which is always welcome.
Manner #8
When people ask you how you are, tell them and then ask them how they are.
Manner #9
When you have spent time at your friend's house, remember to thank his or her parents for having you over and for the good time you had.
Manner #10
Knock on closed doors — and wait to see if there's a response — before entering.
Manner #11
When you make a phone call, introduce yourself first and then ask if you can speak with the person you are calling.
Manner #12
Be appreciative and say "thank you" for any gift you receive. In the age of e-mail, a handwritten thank-you note can have a powerful effect.
Manner #13
Never use foul language in front of adults. Grown-ups already know all those words, and they find them boring and unpleasant.
Manner #14
Don't call people mean names.
Manner #15
Do not make fun of anyone for any reason. Teasing shows others you are weak, and ganging up on someone else is cruel.
Manner #16
Even if a play or an assembly is boring, sit through it quietly and pretend that you are interested. The performers and presenters are doing their best.
Manner #17
If you bump into somebody, immediately say "Excuse me."
Manner #18
Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and don't pick your nose in public.
Manner #19
As you walk through a door, look to see if you can hold it open for someone else.
Manner #20
If you come across a parent, a teacher, or a neighbor working on something, ask if you can help. If they say "yes," do so — you may learn something new.
Manner #21
When an adult asks you for a favor, do it without grumbling and with a smile.
Manner #22
When someone helps you, say "thank you." That person will likely want to help you again. This is especially true with teachers!
Manner #23
Use eating utensils properly. If you are unsure how to do so, ask your parents to teach you or watch what adults do.
Manner #24
Keep a napkin on your lap; use it to wipe your mouth when necessary.
Manner #25
Don't reach for things at the table; ask to have them passed.

New Publix Coupon Policy Effective 5/23/11

Here is the new Publix coupon policy that will be available on Saturday 5/14/11. Others on the forum have discussed with store management and it seems that overage will be allowed. All this is good as it is simply documenting pretty much the policy as my stores follow now - I don't see any changes. I also don't see any limits on deals which I was hoping they would implement - kind of like the raincheck limit of 10 items. However, this will not deter the S&G's who clear shelves. It will still be very competitive out there to get the deals.
  • Publix accepts manufacturers' coupons (limit one per item),
  • Publix coupons (originals only-no copies), valid Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors identified by each Publix store. (Competitor names are posted at each Publix store).
  • We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only.
  • We will not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons.
  • We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell. Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon, and we reserve the right to limit quantities.
  • Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00.
  • For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer's coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item.
  • Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.
Stores will start handing out cards with competitors listed on Saturday 5/14. The policy will be effective Monday, May 23.
